Fierce Falcons 2018 - 2019

Mr Ellis

Welcome to Year 5's Fierce Falcons with Mrs Tupling (Class Teacher) and Mrs Tariq (Teaching Assistant).

Quick reminders: PE is on a Wednesday and ful PE kits must be kept in school.
Homework is set on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERY CHILD READS ALOUD TO SOMEONE OLDER AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK FOR 10-15 MINUTES PER READ AND THAT EVERY CHILD GETS THEIR READING RECORD SIGNED EACH TIME THEY ARE LISTENED TO.

We hope that you have all had a great summer holiday and are refreshed for the new academic year. We are very excited about all the fun and interesting learning we have lined up for Year 5.

This half term, our theme in class is 'A United Kingdom' and as part of our theme will be learning about lots of wonderful things such as iconic Myths and Legends from the U.K, history of the great Anglo Saxons and where they originated from and settled in England, properties of materials and how they are used in industry, plus lots more.

We hope that you have all had a great summer holiday and are refreshed for the new academic year. We are very excited about all the fun and interesting learning we have lined up for Year 5.

We will be taking part in lots of fun-filled science investigation, which will link with our cooking and baking, exploring reversible and irreversible changes.

Finally, we believe this half term is going to be the best half term yet. We have a lot of learning to do and we hope that all of our class have had a well-earnt rest and are ready to come back to give 100% in everything they do.

ust a few reminders for our children and parents:

1. PE is on a Wednesday afternoon and all children must bring their full PE kit and leave it at school. Children will take their kit home at the end of each term to wash and return on their first day back. If there are any reasons why your child cannot participate in PE that day, please write Mrs Tupling a note explaining why. It is a legal requirement for all children to take part in PE.

2. Homework is sent out on a Friday every week and is due back the following Wednesday. All homework that is sent home is expected to be fully completed and to be done independently unless stated otherwise. Children are required to read at home at least 3 times per week for 10-15 mins to a grown up or older brother or sister. Children must get their reading record signed by their listener. If your child does not have internet access, Mrs Tupling runs a lunchtime homework club so children can complete online homework during that time. If there are any issues with homework not being fully completed on time, please see Mrs Tupling or write a note.

We hope that all of the Fierce Falcon's have enjoyed their first few days and are ready and raring to go this half term. We have a lot to get through, but we are sure that it is going to be a very rewarding adventure for everyone.

Remember to check our class page to follow our learning journey.
