Y5CH - Red-headed Vultures 2019 - 2020

Mrs Hardman

A warm welcome to Class 5H with Mrs Hardman (teacher) and Miss Brown (teaching assistant)

We hope that you have all had a great summer and are refreshed for a fantastic year of learning. Year 5 is a really exciting year with lots planned, we hope you are ready.

Please view our folders at the top of the page to see what we have been up to in our topics.

Quick reminder: PE is on a Thursday and full PE kits must be kept in school
Homework is set on a Thursday to be returned the following Tuesday

It is important that every child reads aloud to someone older at least three times a week for 10-15 minutes per read. After this, every child MUST have their reading record signed by an adult. Also, please could you ensure all children are practising their times tables up to 12.

We have a lot of fun and exciting learning to do and we hope that all of our class have had a well-earnt rest and are ready to come back to give 100% in everything they do.

CONGRATULATIONS, Zainab Arif on your headteachers award, the first in our class!
Zainab completed a fact book about our topic Anglo Saxons. Outstanding effort Zainab, well done!

Already in september we have had a visit from a real author E.R. Riley, some children in our class purchased his books.

Here are some pictures of Miss Browns friendship group. Children have been discussing and taking part in random acts of kindness. We have created a kindess book with all of our ideas, we aim to do at least 2 a week. Children are really enjoying being invovled.
We have had lots of great suggestions such as helping their parents cook and simply holding the door for someone and giving them a smile.

Here is our comminity circle where we show our empathy and listening skills. Children can only talk when holding the rolling pin to make sure we're listening to other people. Children have shared something good in their lives either past or present.

Thanks for your participation Deonta (Y6), Alex (Y6), Hamza (Y5), Ahyan (Y5), Rimsha (Y5), Hadjra (Y3) and Muhammad Esa Khan (Y3)

Courageous Cheetahs

Welcome to our classpage! Here will include some snippets of our learning, details about important bits for the week and any other information that can help you to view the wonderful learning in our class! We are always very proud of our learning, so make sure to check back each half term to see what we have been upto!

Class Teacher: Miss Wade

Teaching Assistant: Miss Harvey

We have had a fantastic half-term and a brilliant start to the year. We have been lucky enough to get the chance to earn an extra half an hour of playtime! We really enjoyed it.

Well done to Abdullah for being our Year 4 Spelling Bee winner. All of the children in our class tried their absolute best in entering the Spelling Bee, we are incredibly proud of you all. It isn't easy to stand up infront of your class and spell some tricky words, so well done!

Here is a picture of the audience watching on as two brothers went in to battle to become the Year 4 champion!

Thank you to Mr Gaughan and Miss Lee for your hardwork in our class during the Autumn term, we hope you enjoy your new classes! We will welcome Miss John in to our class in the New Year.

Our school week is packed full of activities; below is a timetable of useful information to help our children bring important resources.

Monday: We have swimming fortnightly, starting from the first week back after half-term. Swimming kits should be brought on a Monday morning and taken home the same day, to ensure they are clean.

Tuesday: Homework given out the previous week should be completed in your homework book and returned to school ready to be marked! Don't forget your PE kit on a Tuesday too! It's important this is in school for all of half-term and taken home during the holidays to be washed.

Wednesday: Today is a good day to bring in your reading record to be looked over and any reading books to be changed. Reading books should be read three times a week for around 15 minutes at a minimum.

Thursday: Homework will be given out on a Thursday for you to take home and complete. Don't forget to bring it in by Tuesday!

Friday: Bring your 'Friday-feeling' smile and ready to finish the week off with our celebration assembly!

Happy New School Year!

It was fantastic to see you all on the first day ready for the start of an exciting new year in Year 4!  What a positive start we have had with everyone already working hard on their times tables and spellings. We also have some new members of the class who have joined Team Reedley this year. Everyone has settled in really well.

We are all looking forward to having a great year together that combines learning, challenges and fun!

End of School Day Arrangements

Children in Year 4 are only allowed to walk home with written permission from parents. Otherwise children should be collected from the area at the far end of the playground.  Please help us keep the children safe by remaining at the bottom of the slope and making yourself known to a member of staff when your child puts their hand up to say you have arrived. As we get to know you this should be much quicker!
