This week's learning

This week in Maths we have been learning about time. We read the book, ‘Mr Wolf’s Week’ and learned the order of the days of the week. We spoke about what he did on each day. Children have all sequenced their daily activities e.g. have breakfast, go to bed, come to school etc. Children all learned to answer before and after questions about their day. Additionally we have read a book about a boy's day which had the time on each page. All children tried hard to listen to the book and made o’clock times on their own clocks.

In Literacy we changed the ending to the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. As a class we decided to change this to ‘We’re Going on a Dragon Hunt’. All children used their phonics knowledge to write the sounds they could hear in each word as they described their dragon.

Children have learned about the Hindu festival Diwali. Children watched a video to learn about how it is celebrated and we discussed how this is similar and different to festivals they take part in such as Eid or Christmas. Children tried hard to use what they have learned about pattern to create Rangoli patterns. We also had fun using salt dough to create Diva Lamps.

On Friday we dressed up as what we wanted to be when we're older. We all spoke about what we'd like to be when we grow up during circle time. Children also went into their first ever assembly. They learned that their donations are helping children all around the world to go to school. Thank you so much to all the parents who donated a pound to Action Aid. You are making a differece to the lives of children around the world.
