World Book Day 2020, a celebration of authors,

Wednesday 12th February

Dear Parents/Carers,

World Book Day 2020, a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) reading, will take place on Thursday 5th March.  The theme this year is ‘Share a Million Stories’ and encourages adults and children to share a book for at least ten minutes a day.

We will be taking part in the celebrations and ask that each child comes to school dressed as a character from a fiction or non-fiction book of their choice.  This could be from a traditional fairy tale, a science fiction story, an adventure story, a story by their favourite author, an information text – the possibilities are endless!

Staff at the school will also be dressing up as different characters and photographs will be on our school website of those celebrating World Book Day 2020.

We would love to invite you into school to join in the celebrations with us.  Each year group will be holding a half hour session for you to come and share a story with your child.  The timings are below:

We are excited about the day and look forward to seeing the children’s creative costumes.

BBC 500 Words Competition

We will be taking part in the BBC 500 words competition again this year.  Children will be set a writing task over the half term.  Two children per year group will be chosen to submit their writing to the competition through school.  However, you can also submit your child’s writing to the competition on the following website by Thursday 27th February at 8pm.   https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4n1HgL2GFCWDmCtq9Sx5kKB/500-words-2020
