Kurt Schwitters

We looked at the work of Kurt Schwitters and found out that he was an artist who became famous for his collages.

He was born in Germany in 1887.

On the first day we experimented with laying different types of paper to create a collage.

Next we looked at lots of work by Schwitters and used our layering techniques to create our own collage in the style of Schwitters.

Finally we looked at some of his work that used everyday materials made from wood and metal to create our final piece.

John Constable

We looked at lots of work by Constable and found out that he was a landscape painter.

He was born 11 June 1776 and died 31 March 1837.

Born in Suffolk he is known for his landscape paintings of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home — now known as "Constable Country" .

On the first day we experimented with our own watercolours using them to colour mix and create colour washes. We found out what happens to paint when you add salt and wax.

We used the skills we had learnt to paint a picture of the school grounds in the style of John Constable. First we colour washed the background and left it to dry. Then we painted the details.
