Summer Term 1

Converting Lengths and Weights

We have been comparing and ordering different weights and lengths, to do this we have been converting measurements using key facts:

1cm = 10mm (centimeters to millimeters)

1km = 1000m (Kilometers to meters)

We have been working through word problems and multi-step questions to practice our learning.

 

Spring Term 2

Angles

Lightning Leopards have been learning all about angles and the different types of angles. We have looked at what makes angles Acute, Obtuse, Reflex or Right angles including the features of each type. 

 

Spring Term 1

Area

We created our own Area Robots and used the different shapes to design and create them. We also calculated the area of our robots and displayed them in the classroom as they look so great and illustrate all of our fantastic learning this term.

Fractions

Lightning Leopards have been learning about fractions, identifying halves and quarters and understanding that fractions are written with a nominator and a denominator (a denominator representing the number of equal parts of a whole one, a nominator representing the amount of the equal parts of a whole one).

Autumn Term 2

Time

This half term we are focusing on time, we have been practising telling the time by the 12hr clock and the 24hr clock. We have been working out what the time would be when we use time intervals e.g. If Roger was 45 minutes late for his appointment what time would it be?

We have been representing our findings in graphs and pictograms and also working out word problems.

 

Arrays

We have been using arrays and factor rainbows to help us to find the factors of numbers.

For example the factors of 18 (shown in the array and rainbow below) are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.

 

 

Autumn Term 1

Place Value

Our Leopards have been learning about the Place Value of digits in numbers, we have been looking at each digit and understanding what each number represents.

We have been placing and ordering 4 digit numbers and understanding whether numbers are greater than, less than or equal too other numbers.

We have been looking at decimal numbers and multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.

Leaopards have also been adding and subtracting two and three digit numbers using different methods.

We have just started our new Maths topic of 2D shapes. We are looking at the properties of 2D shapes, the angles (right angles, acute and obtuse), the verticies, sides and symmetry.
