Autumn 1
Place Value
We will be representing numbers in different ways including partitioning, drawing tens and ones and writing the number in words. We will have fun working as a team, to find different ways of making a number.
This week have started to learn about length. We are looking at units of measurement and ordering measurements.
Spring 2
Shape
We investigated what 2D shaps we could find on 3D shapes using nets to help.
Mass
This half term we have been looking at how to read a scale and use grams and kilograms to work out how heavy things are.
Addition
We learnt how to solve addition calculations involving exchange. We then used this knowledge to solve word problems.
Summer 1
This half term we have been looking at multiplication, division and fractions.

Year 1 2019-2020
Autumn 1
This half term we will be learning about: Number and Place Value, Length and Mass, Addition and Subtraction and 2D and 3D shape. The children will do lots of practical activities in these areas. We will also be looking at counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Autumn 2
This half term we will be learning about: Sequencing and Sorting, capacity and volume, Money and Time. Again the children will be carrying out lots of practical activites in these ares. We are also reinforcing our counting in 2s,5s and 10s by incorporating these into areas such as money.
Spring 1
This half term we will be looking at Numbers again. However; this time we will be focusing on 1 more and 1 less and 10 more and 10 less.
We will be consolidating our counting skills by counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. We will be transferring this skill into money too.
We will also be looking at 2D and 3D shapes and exploring their properties.
Spring 2
This half term we will be looking at addition and subtraction. We will be exploring these operations using equipment, drawing pictures and using number lines.
We will be revisiting our numberbonds to 10 to help us understand our number bonds to 20. We will also be looking at fractions and exploring 1/2 and 1/4. We will link this to our previous learning about 2D shapes.
