Day 2

English

K.L Opening scene

Today I want you to write act 1 of your play. Think about how the narrator opens the scene. Introduce the characters so the audience knows who they are.

Example,

There was a law in the city of Athens, which gave to its citizens the power of compelling their daughters to marry whomsoever they pleased. If a daughter refused to marry the man her father had chosen to be her husband, her father was empowered by this law to cause her to be put to death. As fathers do not desire the death of their own daughters, this law was seldom used.

There was one instance, however, of an old man, whose name was Egeus. He went to see Theseus (the reigning Duke of Athens) to complain that his daughter Hermia wouldn’t marry Demetrius. She loved a man named Lysander. She pleaded to the Theseus and her father, explaining that Demetrius had formerly professed love for her dear friend Helena and that Helena loved Demetrius.

Theseus gave Hermia four days to reconsider. He was unable to change the law so she would be killed if she refused to marry Demetrius.

When Hermia was dismissed, she ran to tell Lysander the news. He had an idea to run away to his Aunt’s house.

Lysander: I will meet you in the wood a few miles

                  without the city.

Hermia joyfully agreed and ran and told Helena her plan. Helena ran and told Demetrius the plan, betraying her friend’s secret. She would then chase after Demitrius!

What do you notice about the sentence.

Today I want you to think about the athletics you have been learning in P.E. I want you to act out six poses of one athletic. For example, the long jump. In the long jump you start with the standing position, next, you bend your knees, after this, you jump and then you land with your knees bent. I want you to draw this sequence, using the skeleton, you was taught last week.

Then I want you to draw one sequence of your own.
