Well-being for families
Welcome to the well-being page. During this unusal and difficult time the well-being of the children, staff, parents and the local community is even more important to us here at Reedley. So we are going to be adding to this page every few days with new ideas and links that we might all find helpful to keep well-being at its best.
We finish this week for the Summer holidays. I just wanted to pop a few things on here for you. As restrictions are also coming to end I just urge you to stay safe over the Summer.
Here are a few activities that are screen free andthat can be done safely over the summer.
I also found the bucket list activity. This is a list of fun things that you can make with your child that you want to do by the end of the summer. I love this idea and here is a example.

Mental Health Awareness Week - 10th to 16th May
As next week is Mental Health Awareness Week I would like to share with you this website that talks about the importance of mental wellbeing in both adults and children. The focus of this week is nature and this site provides lots of activities that you can do out in the great outdoors linked to nature that will help improve wellbeing.
Have a look and see what you could do this weekend in family time together. I particularly like the cloud spotting shapes one and I am definitely going to try this one out with my family. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain though!
Childrens Mental Health Week 2021
As this week is Childrens Mental Health Week (1st Feb- 7th Feb) here are some resources and helpful tips to help improve childrens metal health and well being in the current circumstances.
During Covid many children have suffered with poor wellbeing and mental health due to the changes they have had to adapt to. Here are some things that you can do to help children who are struggling during lockdown.
Lots of children are struggling with feelings of stress and anxiety and here are a few ways you can identify when they are struggling and ways you can help them. This also includes a list of agency websites for further support.
At the moment health and self care is importat not only for your child but also for you as a adult. Homeschooling brings lots of challenges so it is important to look after yourself.

Happy New Year
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a Happy New Year! This isnt the start to a new year that people were hoping for but working together we will get through the challenges we face.
This the time of the year that we reflect on the last one and plan for the year ahead.
There are lots of things that we haven’t been able to do due to coronavirus – see friends, hug a grandparent, go shopping or visit a favourite café. These activities can help to encourage your child to accept and let go of the things they missed out on due to the Covid, and to look forward to things they can do in the future. I will attach the resource at the bottom of this page it is called Letting go and future plans.
This week the focus is on feelings and understanding how we feel. There is lots of change happening at the moment, some children are going out more and coming back to school. It is important to understand that these changes will bring with them a mixture of different feelings. We need to spend time talking with children about how they feel and dicussing that these feelings are normal and many people feel like this.
I have attached at the bottom of the page a document called 7 ways to support children and young people who are worried. This document gives advice and support on how you can support your child through these worries and feelings. I have also attached at the bottom of the page the World Health Organization poster for Helping children cope with stress during the 2019-nCoV outbreak.
Here is a activity that you can complete with your child. It will help to encourage them to talk about their feelings.
This weeks focus for well being is change. Change is something that many people are dealing with in this current climate and it is not easy. There are constant changes happening everday and some people are struggling to keep up and deal with these changes. I have added a short video ( at the bottom of the page) from Lancashire Minds that explains change and how to cope with it and help others deal with it. Following the video I have also attacthed at the bottom the link for you to complete the bank of activities that the video talks about that can help promote better well- being.
This weeks focus for well being is all about routines. An organised and predictable home environment helps children feel safe, secure and looked after, particularly in stressful times like we find ourselves in at the moment. Also, routines built around having fun or spending time together strengthen family relationships. I have included some resources and activities that will stimulate a discussion between you and your child all about routines. This will help them understand the importance of keeping to some sort of a routine ( may help them understand why you are asking them to do school work at the same time each day). Talking to children about Coronavirus
Coronavirus has arrived in the UK very quickly and has already brought a lot of changes to all of our lives.
There is a lot of talk and TV about it – it is impossible to avoid. It can cause worry for children and young people. Family life has had to change. You will want to help your children and young people understand why, and how to keep safe. It is best for children to get facts from the people who know them best. They can get reassurance for any worries and have you there to comfort them. Below are suggested links to support you with this.
