Some of the links suggested are for You Tube please be aware these may have adverts popping up.

 Week 1

This week our theme is dogs, based around the story Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy by Lynley Dodd.

Lynley Dodd uses lots of describing words to tell us what the dogs are like. We have done lots of describing in class like when we described Peter Rabbit. Don’t forget to rehearse your sentences out loud, just like we do in class.  Perhaps you could use your pen as a microphone!  Alternatively, say your sentence out loud and use Kung-fu punctuation! Remember to think about capital letters for names too not just at the beginning of the sentence.

The link to the PDF is at the bottom of this page. Just scroll down to the bottom and click on Year 1 Hairy Maclary Week 1.

Enjoy the unit and I look forward to hearing how you got on!

Mrs Ellis and Miss Cowell.

Week 2

Our learning this week builds on the learning from last week. This week it is based around pets. Don’t forget to rehearse your sentences out loud, just like we do in class.  Perhaps you could use your pen as a microphone!  Alternatively, say your sentence out loud and use Kung-fu punctuation! Remember to think about capital letters and full stops.

**Do remember that some of the links are YouTube so just be aware of the pop ups.**

Again the links will be at the bottom of the page.

Year 1: This week our learning is based around the story The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson. Remember to use your full stops, capital letters and question marks. This week we are going to use the word 'and' to join our sentences.  If it helps say your sentences outloud like we do in class and use your kung fu punctuation. Our link is the one that is called: Year 1 English Week 3 Highway Rat.

We hope you enjoy!

English Learning Week 4

This week our learning is all about rabbits. This links nicely with the last topic we covered whilst at school, Peter Rabbit. The focus this week is on using the joining words and & but. We have used these in class to join our sentences so we should be super good at this. Remember to say your sentences outloud first to practice them and use your kung foo puctuation.

**Do remember that some of the links are YouTube so just be aware of the pop ups.**

The link is below called English Week 4 Bunnies. Have fun learning about bunnies and dont forget you can send some of your learning to the Rainbow email address to show your teachers.

Learning Week 5

This week our learning starts off by looking at one of my favourite books Rumble In The Jungle. It is again based around animals to build on previous learning. It also looks at a Julia Donaldson book that I havent read before but after watching the clip its going on my wishlist of books for school.

These activities focus on vocabulary and words which we use to describe animals. Remember to think carefully about which words to use. You can use word hippo with your adult to find some more interesting words to use.  Remember to check  your work for capital letters, full stops, use of the word ‘and’ and ‘or’ and also the question mark. These are all things we have looked at in class together.

**Do remember that some of the links are YouTube so just be aware of the pop ups.**

The link is below and is called: English Learning Week 5 Rumble in the Jungle.

Happy learning!
