10.06.20 Exclusive online projects for Children’s University participants this week funded by Arts Council

ear Parents

Our friends at Creative Briefs are running two exclusive online projects for Children’s University participants this week funded by Arts Council England Covid Emergency Response Fund. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to take part in a validated design workshop online. If these are successful, we may be able to offer more of these in the future. This session is aimed at KS2.

What are the workshops?

During the workshops children will work on real design challenges set by professional clients. One is centred around t-shirt design and the other is a dinosaur design challenge for a dinosaur museum in Hull. The session will be about 90 minutes long, and children will:

  • learn and use the design process that professional designers use
  • apply this design process to work on design briefs for real clients
  • work alongside Creative Briefs’ team of professional designers, illustrators, and marketing experts
  • earn a passport stamp for taking part

Children will need pens and paper and a video connection to Zoom and Creative Briefs ask that a parent or guardian is also present. All delivery staff are DBS checked.

When are the workshops?

There are three sessions running each day on June 11th and June 12th. Spaces are limited, but they will be repeating the session at the following times:
9.15am - 10.45am
11am - 12.30pm
1pm - 2.30pm

How do people sign up?

Spaces are limited so it is first come, first served – email contactus@childrensuniversity.co.uk for secret sign up details

We need Creative Thinkers!

We’re looking for creative thinkers like YOU from all across the UK to join the Junior Design Factory. You will work on real design challenges set by professional clients. We are always looking for new Creative Thinkers who have an interest in design to join us, and we now have exciting opportunities for Children's University passport holders to join us in online introductory design sessions.

The session will be about 90 minutes long, and you'll be:

  • Learning and using the design process that professional designers use
  • Applying this design process to work on design briefs for real clients
  • Working alongside our team of professional designers, illustrators, and marketing experts
  • Earning a passport stamp for taking part.

Your first design challenge

In this first session you'll learn the design process through a fun 'Design A Modern Day Dinosaur' brief. The client for this brief is 'Dinostar' - a dinosaur museum based in Hull, and they are really keen to see your creative ideas.

Your second design challenge

In this second session you'll work for a real t-shirt company in a ‘'Design A Home-Schooling T-Shirt’ brief. The client for this brief is 'Jugglewear’ and they are so excited about your designs that they will be doing something very special with the winning design!
