Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been a great week in school and some of our children have enjoyed taking part in events again.

Y2 Visitor

Year 2 children had a visit from Pendle Dogs In Need.

Tully the dog came to visit them and they learnt all about how to care for animals, which links with some writing they are doing in English.

Y4 Visitor

Year 4 children had a visit from Cara Bickett from the ladies’ Burnley Football Club team, as part of the Premier League’s ‘Show Racism The Red Card’ Campaign. She read the children a book about preventing racism and the children also watched a video message from Ben Mee, captain of the men’s BFC team.

The event was filmed by Granada Reports  - so look out for Reedley on the ITV local news at 6pm tonight.

Reading Festival

Each class has celebrated reading by taking part in the 'Reading is Magic' festival this week. Children have participated in online workshops led by famous illustrators, authors and poets such as Rob Biddulph and Michael Rosen. We were very lucky to be part of such a fantastic festival.

Ventilation in School

We have been informed by the Department For Education that we have to ensure that all classrooms are well ventilated, to minimise the risk of COVID infections. Each class has their own procedures for this. Some rooms have an extractor fan and others will need to have the windows open. If it gets very cold, these windows can be closed for a short period of time, but they will need to be opened regularly to ensure that the rooms are well ventilated. You may choose to send your child to school with an extra layer of clothing under their school uniform, such as a vest or t-shirt, during the cold weather.

Reading for Pleasure Certificates

A large number of children across school are completing the Reading for Pleasure Awards each week. It is wonderful to see so many children engaging with these activities. If you child has not yet received a certificate for these awards, please ask them what they need to do to achieve the ‘Argentina’ award, and support them as best you can.

MacMillan

Thank you for all the donations that were sent into school for the Macmillan Cancer charity. We raised over £300 for this very important charity.

Parent/Carer meetings with teachers

In the week beginning 18th October, you will be able to have a telephone meeting with your child’s class teacher.

You will be able to make an appointment using the School Spider App. All appointment times will be available for booking from Tuesday 5th October at 6pm.

Please ensure that you have the School Spider App and that you are aware of your password to access the app, or you will not be able to book an appointment. If you have forgotten your password, click ‘reset password’ and create a new one.

Half Term

School will be closed on Friday 22nd October and will reopen on Monday 1st November.

Thank you for your support,
