Dear Parents/Carers,

Attendance and Punctuality

Our overall attendance for the week is 93.98%. This is better than last week but still lower than our target of 96%.

We had 4 hours and 28 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is being missed by some children.

Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.

Events this week

  • Year 5 visited Leighton Hall in Carnforth to learn about where food comes from and to take part in cooking activities.
  • Reception children have taken part in Bikeability sessions.
  • Y6 parents visited school for art week.
  • Children have been involved in discussions about Remembrance Day and took part in the 1 minute silence as a mark of respect.

Future Events

  • Monday 14th November marks the start of ‘anti-bullying week’. We are inviting the children to come to school on this day wearing odd socks to promote the message it is ok to be different and to stand out. This will support the work we have been doing on equality recently. The children do not need to bring money for this.

  • Thursday 17th The police will be in school to talk to Y6 about the dangers of knife crime.

  • On Friday 18th November, we will be asking the children to bring a donation of £1 for BBC Children in Need. The theme this year is to wear ‘spots’. The children can choose to wear spotty items or just come in their non-uniform to school.

Online Safety Guide

This week I have attached a fact-sheet about Roblox.

The messages to parents/carers this week would be:

  • Enable parental controls
  • Ensure your chid isn’t able to make real purchases whilst playing
  • Be wary that some people referred to as ‘Oders’, join Roblox with the intention of

finding a ‘date’ in real life.

  • Disable the messaging facility so that strangers cannot message your child
  • You can set up a private facility for your child to play exclusively with their friends only, but you have to pay for this.

Parent Governor Election Results

Your child should have brought home the new ballot papers for the parent election. Please remember to read the biographical information and to cast your vote based on the information provided, rather than being influenced by anyone else. Ballot papers should be returned to school no later than 11am on 22nd November.

PE KITS

Please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school with black PE pumps.

Author Visit

Mrs Gorrell sent out a letter this week with details of how you can buy the book ‘Speak Up Sami’ by the author Shabana Hussain, whose son Aadam attended Reedley School until he left in Y6 last year. Books are priced at £5 each and can be purchased by sending the money into school by 22nd November at the latest.

Mrs Ali

Mrs Ali and her husband were delighted to announce the birth of their son Adam Azar Ali, who was born on 5.11.22.

In Mrs Ali’s absence, Mrs Hardman has been appointed as the Phase Leader for Upper Reedley.

If any parents/carers from Y5/Y6 need to see Mrs Hardman, they can make an appointment by calling the school office.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Sarah Bell
