Summer Term
Addition and Subtraction
We have been crossing boundaries with addition and subtraction and we have been using a range strategies for adding and subtracting numbers. We have been using the skills to find the missing digits in calculations.
Multiplication and Division
We are to be learning about number sequences, scaling and esitmation. We will be solving missing numbers in grid method.
2D Shape
We are going to be comparing angles, drawing 2D shapes and measuring perimeter.
Decimal Place Value
We are going to be dividing by 10, counting up and down in tenths and ordering numbers with one decimal place.
3D Shape
In our 3D shape unit, we will be recognising and describing 3D shapes and sorting 3D shapes.
Spring Term
Place Value, Addition and Subtraction
We have been rounding numbers to 100, crossing boundaries with addition and subtraction and we have been learning to use mental startegies for adding and subtracting.
Multiplication
Using Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams we have been sorting numbers and using our knowledge of times tables. We have been multiplying numbers for 10 by using base 10. Within multiplication, we have been multiplying 2-digit numbers using the grid method and using scaling to solve word problems.
Division
We are going to be halving to 100, looking at division as a repeated subtraction and reading scales.
Volume, Capacity and Mass
We are going to estimate measure and compare capacity, volume and mass and measure and add mass.
Autumn Term
Place Value
We have been representing numbers in different ways including partitioning, drawing tens and ones and writing the number in words.
Addition and Subtraction
We used apparatus and jottings to help us solve addition and subtraction calculations and began to exchange.
Length and Perimeter
We learnt how measure using cm, m and mm and began to calculate perimeter.
Statistics
We learnt how to draw a bar chart and input the data on a graph. Using bar charts and pictograms we solved one step questions.
Multiplication and Division
We have been learning how to multiply numbers between 10-19 using arrays and the grid method. We began to learn how to divide numbers using arrays.
Time
We learnt how to read an analogue clock time to the nearest 5 minute.
3D Shape
We have been identifying and describing 3D shapes and constructing these shapes. We learnt how to sort shapes and identify horizontal and vertical lines.
