Maths
Spring
This half term we will be learning about:
Length
Addition and Subtraction
2D and 3D Shape
Fractions, Position and Direction
Time
Addition and Subtraction
We have done so well with our addition and subtraction that we have now moved on to exchanging. We use our steps to success to help us remember how to work it out. When possible, we try our best to work out some things in our heads.
Multiplication and division
We have learnt so many different things in this unit. We know that you can swap the numbers in a multiplication sentence and that it will always give you the same answer. We have been reading division and mulitplication problems and then choosing the correct operation. We used different methods to show our working out. We using arrays, grouping and sharing. We found that grouping was the best method for finding remainders.
Autumn
Money
We have been looking at recognising coins and working out how many of the same coins we need to make a value.
We have also been adding two prices to find the total using exchanging.
Telling the time
We have been learning to tell the time to 15 minutes. We have looked at o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We know that the longer hand is the minute hand and
the shorter hand is the hour hand. In class, we will be telling the time to our partner when we notice the different times we have learnt.
