Dear Parents/Carers,

Attendance and Punctuality

Our overall attendance for the week is 89.33%. This is significantly lower than our target of 96%.
We had 6 hours and 27 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is being missed by some children.
Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.
Please remember that by law, your child has to attend school. Holidays or trips abroad during term time will
not be authorised and will result in your child missing valuable learning time and the parents receiving a
financial penalty.
I am very disappointed to report that 417 school days have been lost so far this school year, due to children
taking unauthorised leave, sometimes for several weeks at a time. That is more than two school years of
education that has been lost.

Events this week
-Some children from Y6 have taken part in Bikeability
-Some of our children received their flu vaccine this week. There is a short delay for those children who have
requested an injection rather than the nasal spray. We will let you know when these will take place.

Future Events
- Reception children will chance to take part in some biking sessions. Please see letters that have been sent
home.
- Miss Veldon’s class are having their parent meetings on Monday 7th November. Please ensure that you have
signed up for a slot on the School Spider app.
- School photographs were cancelled this week, as the photographers both had Covid. This has been
rescheduled for 28th November. I will remind you nearer the time.

Online Safety Guide
This week I have attached a fact-sheet, about group chats.
I know that many online games/social media platforms have this facility.
The messages to parents/carers this week would be:
-restrict the facility for your child to talk to strangers
-remember that people can hide their true identity when chatting online
-children should be reminded that they should tell an adult if anything makes them uncomfortable when online
-anything that your child shares online can end up public and they won’t be able to control who sees them,
including any comments or pictures that they share.

Art Week
Thank you the parents who were able to join us for art week. Y6 parents can join us on Friday 10th November
from 2.45 – 3.15. Please ensure that you have sent a slip into school to let us know that you are coming.

Parent Governor Election
Your child has brought home the ballot papers for the parent governor election. You should read the
biographical information about the candidates and cast your vote no later than 12noon on Monday 7th
November.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Sarah Bell
