Dear Parents/Carers,

Punctuality

We had 8 hours and 25 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is still being missed by some children.

Only Mrs Latif’s Y1 class and Miss Radcliffe’s Y4 class had all children in on time every day this week.

Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.

Attendance

Our overall attendance for this week is 90.98%.

Y3 Golden Eagles and Y1 Squirrel Class both achieved 97% attendance this week, but all of the other classes were lower than our 96% target.

Please note that leave from school will not be authorised as it is the law that children attend school. Our attendance policy is available on our school website.

Events This Week

  • Several our classes had a dance session with a specialist from Sanderson Dance School as part of their PE topic

  • Some Y3 children attended a Multiskills event at West Craven High School on Thursday.

Sue Dean Writing Award

Each half term all teachers nominate someone in their class for our prestigious writing award. From those nominations, one child is chosen as the overall winner. The latest winner is Jensen Jessop from Y2 who has made a huge improvement in his writing. Well done Jensen.

School Admissions

Parents/carers need to register children for a school place if they were born between 01/09/19 and 31/08/20.

The last day to register is Monday 15th January, otherwise parental choice will not be considered and children can be allocated a place in any school.

If you have a child due to start school in September 2024, or you know someone who has, please ensure that these applications are submitted this weekend on www.lancashire.gov.uk

Swimming Pool

You will have seen the tent in the playground which has a 10 metre swimming pool inside.

Thank you for being cooperative and working around the tent. The children have all been great at this too at playtimes.

From 22nd January, children in Years 3 – 6 will have allocated swimming slots over four weeks.

I will let you know the swimming schedule next week so that children can have their kit in school for their allocated session.

They will need:

GIRLS

  • A one-piece swimming costume (girls)
  • A swimming hat

BOYS

  • Swimming trunks or shorts. Shorts must not be longer than the knee

ALL CHILDREN

  • Towel
  • Dressing gown
  • Flip flops/crocs

There will be a qualified swimming teacher and a lifeguard in place at all times whilst the children are in the pool. The pool will be locked up when lessons are not taking place, so children cannot access it at other times.

This replaces all swimming lessons at the local pool from now on. The pool will be with us until half term and then will return annually every September.

Reedley Wraparound Care Club

The new Care Club will start on Monday 22nd January which will be a before and after school run by Kirsten Mather, who is new to Reedley.

On Monday 15th January and Friday 19th January, Kirsten will be in school for when parents/carers drop children off for Breakfast Club. During this time, she will be giving out registration sheets for the new club. She will be happy to answer questions that you may have about the club. Mrs Iqbal will also have spare registration sheets, so please ensure that you request one if you want your child to attend either of the clubs.

If you would like your child to attend, please complete the form and return it to school by Thursday 18th January.

Further details are at the bottom of the newsletter, as a reminder.

From Monday 22nd January school staff will no longer be looking after children that arrive at school earlier than 8.40am or those who are not picked up by 3.30pm. They will be cared for in the Reedley Wraparound Care Club and parents/carers will be charged.

  • Children should not arrive at school earlier than 8.40am unless they are attending the club. If they do, they will go into the club and parents/carers will be charged the £4.50 fee.
  • Children who are not collected from school by 3.30pm will go into the afterschool club and an initial fee of £4 per child will be charged.

If the children are not collected by 3.50pm, then the full session price will be charged.

The wraparound care club is a new exciting venture for Reedley and from talking to several parents, I know that this will be much-needed for some families. Kirsten Mather has got some great ideas for fun and exciting activities for the children and I know that her and her team are going to fit in really well at Reedley.
