Dear Parents/Carers,
Attendance
Our overall attendance for this week is 94.39%
Four classes achieved the target of 96% this week – Rec Miss Hearle’s class, Y2 Mrs Sange’s class, Y3 Miss Radcliffe’s class and Y6 Mrs Edward’s class.
Punctuality
We had 9 hours 5 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is still being missed by some children.
Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.
Please remember that by law, your child has to attend school. Holidays or trips abroad during term time will not be authorised and will result in your child missing valuable learning time and the parents receiving a financial penalty.
Events this week
Year 4 had a visit from a dentist, as part of their science topic.
E-safety sessions for parents
On Tuesday 17th January, there will be two online safety sessions for parents/carers.
The content of the sessions will be the same, so there is no need to attend both sessions.
Session 1 – in school 2.30pm - 3.15pm
Session 2 – via Zoom, 6.30pm to 7.15pm.
Mrs Iqbal will send out the link to all families, that you can use to attend the session on your devices
The session will be run by Mr Musker, an Online Safety consultant, who does regular work at Reedley.
He will be covering various aspects of online serve to include in how to set effective parental controls on your child's devices.
We have sent home a slip home today. Please can you let us know in advance if you will be attending either session and also if there is anything specific that you would like Mr Musker to cover in the session.
Before School Club
Please remember that your child can arrive at school between 8.15 and 8.25 each day. I must stress that they need to be in by 8.25am. If they arrive after this time, they will need to wait for the usual school gate to open at 8.40am. Remember that you can buy a breakfast bar for 50p if you wish your child to have one.
Please remember that parents/carers are not permitted to drive into the school carpark to drop children off.
Reception Class for 2023
If you, or anyone you know, has a child with a date of birth between 01/09/18 – 31/08/19, then they will start school in September 2023. In order to get the best possible chance of your child attending the school of your choice, you must apply online for a school place to Lancashire County Council no later than the 15th of January. Applications after this time could result in your child being allocated a school which was not one of your preferred choices.
If you need any help with this, please see Mrs Iqbal.
Non uniform day
On Friday 20th January, we are having a non-uniform day for our reception classes to buy some new toys and an outside storage shed to keep them in. We are asking for a £1 donation from all the children in our school and in return, the children can wear their own clothes for school next Friday.
Adverse Weather
Snow is forecast for next week. Please be advised that we will do everything we can to keep school open and to ensure that it is safe for the children to arrive and leave everyday. However, should the conditions be unsafe for the children, and we have to close the school, then we will inform you all via text.
Please ensure that we have your up to date contact details in case we need to message you.
If it does start to snow, please do not call school – we will contact you if we need to.
Online Safety Guide
This week I have attached a guide about how to combat online bullying.
The advice includes:
-playing age appropriate games with your child
-regularly discussing your child’s online practices with them
-being prepared to listen to your child’s concerns
-knowing how to report any cyber-bullying
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Sarah Bell
