21.10.20 Newsletter COVID, contact from school, half term dates
Wednesday, October 21, 2020
Dear Parents/Carers
COVID
Thank you for all of your support throughout the first half of this term. This is an incredibly difficult time for all of us, including the children coming into school with all the additional precautions and procedures in place, for the staff who are working in challenging circumstances and for parents/carers who have had to make alternative arrangements when children are in self isolation. We will get through this, but we must all ensure that we are sticking to the rules, in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
Closure of Year Group Bubbles
By Law, we have to close school for a whole year group, if there are any positive cases.
You can help us to do this effectively by:
- Ensuring that we have your up to date contact information. If you have changed your number, you must call Mrs Iqbal and give us the correct phone number.
- Ensure that you have the School Spider App on your phone and that you have enabled this to receive notifications.
- Check your phone before you leave the house in a morning and ensure that your phone is on during the day, in case we need to send the children home early.
If you or your child have been in contact with someone who has the virus, then you must isolate for 14 days. This means that the affected person must not be out in a public space, use public transport, play out, go shopping, take any trips or visit other people’s houses. Unfortunately, this includes through half term for children in Year 2 and Year 4 from Reedley. You must ensure that these children do not have contact with other people outside of their home, during this time.
Year 5 - last day of isolation is Wednesday 21st October, return to school Thursday 22nd October
Year 6 - last day of isolation is Friday 23rd October, return to school Tuesday 3rd November
Year 4 - last day of isolation is Friday 30th October, return to school Tuesday 3rd November
Year 2 - last day of isolation is Monday 2nd November, return to school Tuesday 3rd November
Lancashire is under Tier 3 restrictions, which means:
-You are not allowed to meet socially with anyone (unless you live with them or they are part of your support bubble) in any indoor setting or private garden or at most outdoor hospitality venues
-You can meet in parks, outdoor sports venues, countryside or forests, as long as you are not in a group of more than six
-People are advised not to travel into or out of Tier 3 areas, other than for work, education, or because of caring responsibilities, or to travel through as part of a longer journey
-People from Tier 3 areas are being asked to avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK
-People from outside Tier 3 areas are being asked to avoid staying overnight in very high alert areas.
Other COVID procedures to protect yourself and others:
- Stay at home if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus
- Wash your hands regularly using soap and water and carry hand sanitiser when you go out
- Keep 2 metres distance from people not in your household
- Avoid handshakes and embracing when meeting others
- Wherever possible, do your shopping online, pre-book appointments and use contactless payments
Nativity for Y1 and Reception
Unfortunately, we are not able to put on a school nativity show this year due to a number of COVID restrictions although the children will still learn about the Christmas Story through RE in class.
Half Term
School closes after school on Friday 23rd October and reopens on TUESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER.
Thank you for your support
