21.10..22 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

Attendance and Punctuality

Our overall attendance for the week was 88.48%.

Your child has brought home their traffic light letter this week to show their attendance for the half term.

Children who achieve at least 96% attendance and are on ‘green’ at Christmas, Easter and Summer will be entered into a draw, to be one of four children in school to win a prize.

We had 4 hours and 19 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is being missed by some children.

Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.

Please remember that by law, your child has to attend school. Holidays or trips abroad during term time will not be authorised and will result in your child missing valuable learning time and the parents receiving a financial penalty.

Art Week

We have invited parents/cares to visit school after half term to find out what the children are learning in art.

Please look out for the letter that your child brought home yesterday for the time slot per class. Please send back the slip if you wish to attend, so that we can prepare for the numbers of people who will be visiting.

Events this week

-Children in Y1 to Y6 have been given Spelling Bee letters and lists of words to learn. Round 1 will take place in January, but your child could start learning the words now.

-Thank you to those parents/carers who attended the parent meetings in school this week. If you didn’t attend a meeting, you will be able to make an appointment by calling Mrs Iqbal or Miss Fegan in the school office on 01282 693688. We will do our best to try to fit in an appointment for you.

Miss Veldon will rearrange her meetings after half term.

Show Racism the Red Card

Well done to your children for wearing red today to support the Show Racism the Red Card campaign as part of our work on Equality.

We discussed aspects of the anti-racism campaign with the children to raise their awareness of racism.

After School Clubs

Clubs have now finished for the winter as it will be getting too dark soon for the children to be safely collected.

We hope that your child has enjoyed a club if they have attended one this year and we will resume our wide range of clubs in the Spring.

Online Safety Guide

This week I have attached a fact-sheet, about Fifa 23.

I know that many of our children would enjoy playing games involving football.

The messages to parents/carers this week would be:

-restrict the facility for your child to talk to strangers

-turn off voice chat

-control in-game spending by not linking the game to your payment account

-stay alert for scammers

-limit your child’s screen time, which can be limited through parental controls

Parent Governor Election

Your child has brought home the ballot papers for the parent governor election. You should read the biographical information about the candidates and cast your vote no later than 12noon on Monday 7th November.

School Holidays – half term

School will be closed from Friday 21st October at 3.30pm and will re-open on Monday 31st October.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Sarah Bell
