Dear Parents/Carers,
Teacher Strike – Tuesday 28th February
The following classes will not be able to come to school on Tuesday 28th February due to some teachers being on strike:
- Y3 Candy Tuft – Mrs Ellis’s class
- Y3 Silver Posies – Mrs Radcliffe’s class
- Y5 Scared Lotus - Miss Mushtaq’s class
- Y6 Iris class - Miss Edwards Class - will be closed in the afternoon only. Children in this class should come to school in the morning. Parents of children in this class should make arrangements for the children to leave school at 1pm. They can be collected from the usual pedestrian gate.
Attendance
Our overall attendance for this week is 91.17%.
This is still lower than our target of 96%.
Both Year 5 classes have had their non-uniform day today for winning the attendance treat last half term.
Punctuality
We had 4 hours 24 minutes of lates this week, meaning vital learning is still being missed by some children.
Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.
Please remember that by law, your child has to attend school. Holidays or trips abroad during term time will not be authorised and will result in your child missing valuable learning time and the parents receiving a financial penalty.
Daisy Class have had their non-uniform day today for winning the punctuality award last half term,
Events this week
- Brun Team had their team treat this week for winning the team point treat for last half term.
- Book fair has taken place for some classes and Year 5/6 can attend the book fair on Monday after school.
- Children from different classes were able to go on the library bus to change some of our school library books
- Parents have been able to visit their child’s class to attend art week at various times throughout the week
Coconut Class
Mrs Collin’s Class won a Headteacher Award today for their great effort with lining up and walking around school sensibly. They have been working hard on this so I am very pleased that they have achieved a certificate.
Eco-Council
Our pupils have made a really good start to collecting crisp packets to recycle. Well done Eco Council. Don’t forget, that families can also recycle soft plastics. Many supermarkets have a soft plastic collection point.
School Clubs
Clubs for children in Middle and Upper Reedley have started this week and will run until Easter.
Learning Ambassadors
Learning Ambassadors in KS2 have been talking about how we need to revisit learning in order for it to be consolidated and for it to stick in our heads. They have been talking to their classes about his and encouraging more children to complete their homework each week.
World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March
Children can come to school dressed as a character from a fiction or non-fiction book of their choice . This could be from a traditional fairy tale, a science fiction story, an adventure story, a story by their favourite author, an information text – the possibilities are endless!
Staff at the school will also be dressing up as different characters and photographs will be on our school website of those celebrating World Book Day 2023.
We would love to invite you into school to join in the World Book Day celebrations with us. Each year group will be holding a half hour session for you to come and read for pleasure with your child. The timings are below:
