29.04.20 Rainbow newsletter

29th April 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope everyone has had a good week and the home learning is going well; the sunshine is certainly helping to lift the spirits!

Everyone at school understands the challenges home learning brings and would like to say a big thank you to all parents/carers and the children for all of your hard work. As said before, the expectation is children try to do some work every day, but we do understand that this is not always possible and, on some days, more will be done than others.

We would like to celebrate home learning with you and have created an email address where you can send photographs of the work that you are doing with your children.  This can be as creative as you like: learning how to use measurements as part of a baking activity, science lessons in the garden, shelter building and den making to show off DT skills – the choice is yours!  These photographs will be shared on Twitter and the school website to celebrate all of the hard work that you are doing with your children.

All that we ask is that that when you send us an email, you also provide permission for your child’s work or photograph to be displayed on Twitter, the school website or both.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to respond to your emails but please do not hesitate to speak to class teachers during their weekly contact phone call if there are any problems with home learning.

The email address is:

rainbow@reedley.lancs.sch.uk

We look forward to seeing photographs of all your amazing work and activities.

StarLine, a new national helpline for parents

A new national free telephone helpline for parents and carers has been created to provide personalised support and advice on home learning to support pupils until schools re-open.

StarLine, a sector-led initiative supported by voluntary sector partners and the Department for Education, offers parents and carers personalised advice and support from a team of qualified teachers, education and parenting experts. Available to all parents and carers of school children nationwide, a team of education and parenting experts will share tips, techniques and resources to help young people continue their learning while schools are closed, and to support family wellbeing. Parents and carers will be guided to help their children create regular routines and study habits, offering practical steps to take and access to quality resources.

StarLine is open six days a week and covers all areas of the curriculum across all phases of education.  In addition to qualified teachers, callers can speak to experienced education and parenting experts who can provide support and advice on behaviour, wellbeing and help for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities.

All calls are confidential, and advice is available six days a week by phoning 0330 313 9162. For more information visit www.starline.org.uk

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Gorrell
