Dear Parents/Carers
Leave Of Absence
Your child has brought home a leaflet today, which has been written in conjunction with Headteachers across Pendle and leaders from the local Mosques. This leaflet details an attendance charter that schools and Mosques have signed up to, with the aim of improving attendance and therefore improving the life chances for your children.
Mrs Walton and myself have been to Brierfield Mosque today to promote this charter.
Across six Pendle schools, 31 years of learning was lost due to leave in 2018/2019 and Reedley is included in this statistic.
Leave of absence requests from school, of five days or more, will result in a fine being issued to each parent, but we are asking families to consider the real cost of taking your child out of school, which is that it could affect their long-term life chances.
Punctuality
The number of minutes late has increased again recently. This week over 7 hours of learning was missed through children arriving late to school. Please ensure that your child is here before 8.50am.
Just One Tree
Thank you for donations for the Just One Tree appeal. We raised around £300. That means that 300 trees will be planted somewhere in the world, due to your kind donations. If you have not made your donation, please send it to Mrs Iqbal in the school office.
First Aid
All of our Y6 children received first aid training on Monday from a charity called Millie’s Trust. The children have said that they enjoyed the training and they feel they would know what to do, should someone become unwell. Well done Y6.
Christmas Fair
The fair will take place from 3.45pm – 5pm on Wednesday 11th December. Entry will be through the playground. Please ensure that all children are collected from school on time, so that staff are free to get the stalls ready.
School Closure
School will be closed on Thursday 12th December.
School closes at 3.30pm on Friday 20th December and reopens on Tuesday 7th January.
Thank you for your support
Mrs Sarah Bell
