Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back everyone!

It has been great to see the children back at school this week all ready to learn for the Summer Term.

I have enjoyed seeing all the drawing and art work that the children have done over the school holidays. Remember that this will help to strengthen their hand muscles and improve their handwriting.

The weather is due to get very warm over the coming week.

Please take the following steps to keep your child safe during any warm weather:

-          Send a sunhat

-          Apply a high factor suncream before your child comes to school

-          Ensure your child has a bottle of fresh water each day in a clear bottle (not juice)

Attendance

Whole school attendance this week is 93.83%.

These five classes met the target of 96% this week.

Dragonfly Y5T

98.57%

Coot Y2C

98.53%

Ducklings RecH

97.25%

Kingfisher Y1L

96.94%

Swan Y2S

Punctuality

Mr Thew’s Y5 Class only had one late this week. Well done!

Please ensure all children are in school by 8.50am. Lessons start promptly at this time.

Clubs

Clubs will resume from Wednesday 30th April.

Children have brought home a slip with the name of the club they have been allocated.

Events

Y4 Red Fox Class and Rec Chick Class had their non-uniform day today as a reward for their attendance and punctuality for the last half term.

The Year 3 children took part in an Eid Assembly this week – well done children, you gave lots of information about Ramadan and Eid. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend.

Children who will be joining Reedley School in our Reception Class in September are invite to come to a meeting on Monday 28th April after school. I know that several of our current children have a sibling who will be starting school and we look forward to seeing them at the meeting. If you are not able to attend the meeting, please see Miss Hume in Reception and she will share the information about when the children can visit school before they start in September.

Spelling Bee

Well done to the children who took part in the Spelling Bee Semi-Final.

Four children from each year group from Y1 – Y6 have made it through to the final which will take place on 18th June. The children have been given new lists to learn and will be asked to spell the words in a random order. Each child has also been given a letter with further details.

Next week – visit from Mounted Police

I have arranged a short visit from the Lancashire Mounted Police on Monday. One or two police horses will come into the playground and all the children will be able to see them from a distance.

I have asked each class to come up with one question that they would like to ask the police officers that visit. Children might like to think about this over the weekend and share their ideas with their class on Monday morning.

Burnley Football Club

BFC support our school with various events and so we are excited that they have been promoted to the Premier League for the next season.  I have received this message regarding a match for the BFC Women’s Team which may be of interest to some of our families.

We are excited to announce that our exceptional Women’s First Team will play their final home fixture of the season at Turf Moor on Sunday, 27th April.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, with free entry for season ticket holders. This is a fantastic opportunity for supporters to experience a matchday at Turf Moor while celebrating and supporting the continued growth of women’s football.

We kindly ask if you could please share this information with your families and school community. It’s a wonderful occasion to inspire the next generation of female footballers by showcasing the talent and dedication of our Women’s First Team.
