This week's learning
In Maths we have been learning about measuring length, we have ordered different lengths and we have tried hard to measure the different lengths with cubes. In Literacy we read the book Wash Scrub Brush! We carried out lots of practical activities such as, washing our hands, getting dressed by ourselves, washing babies and making healthy fruit kebabs. Children then created information books about how to keep healthy. We loved learning about how to look after a baby! We loved meeting Libby (Miss Waring’s sister’s baby). Children fed her yoghurt and milk; they read her stories and pushed her in her pram. In phonics all children have begun to read simple words using their phonics knowledge. This week children have been learning to push each sound to blend the sounds together in order to read the word e.g. sat, dog, sad, mat, pin, and dad. You could encourage your children to read simple words by saying each sound quickly. We are so proud of the super comments from families in children’s reading diaries. Thank you to all the parents who are asking their children questions about their books. Some ideas could include… What is the title? Where and when did the story happen? Who are the characters in the story? What is the story about? What has happened in the story so far? What do you think will happen next?
