09.12.20 End of term, COVID cases over the Christmas break, homelearning

Reedley Primary School - Achieving Today For Tomorrow`s World

Wednesday, 09 December 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

CLOSURE FOR THE CHRISTMAS BREAK

You may have heard in the media recently, that the government have said that Headteachers may choose to close their school a day early for the Christmas break, to minimise the chances of children contracting COVID towards the end of term. In order to do this, we would have to use one of our INSET (training) days.

We only have three INSET days left for this school year and we are planning to use all three of these to close the school for Eid in 2021.

These are:

  • Thursday 13th May
  • Monday 19th July
  • Tuesday 20th July

Therefore, unless the government change their position on this, Reedley will remain open to pupils on Friday 18th December.

YOU MUST KEEP YOUR CHILD AWAY FROM SCHOOL AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES, IF THEY DISPLAY ANY OF THE MAIN COVID SYMPTOMS. THESE INCLUDE A HIGH TEMPERATURE, A NEW COUGH AND A CHANGE IN TASTE AND SMELL IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU SHOULD BOOK YOUR CHILD FOR A COVID TEST AND INFORM SCHOOL.

POSITIVE COVID CASES DURING THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

If your child develops symptoms and then goes on to have a positive COVID test, then you must inform us. We will then contact the other members of the child’s bubble, as they will have to isolate for 14 days.

Further details of how to inform us of this, will be sent to you next week.

HOMELEARNING

All of our teachers ensure that there is regular homelearning on our school website, whether school is open to their year group or not. If school is closed to children, there is an expectation that all children will complete at least 3- 4 hours of home learning each day. The children will also receive regular phonecalls from school. Unfortunately, when staff are making these telephone calls, our children are often out shopping or in other people’s homes. The law says that children need to isolate at home and are not permitted to be in public places. Fines can be issued to parents/carers where children are out of the home unnecessarily eg shopping trips or playing out with friends.

If you are not able to access the work online, you can request a homelearning pack from school if school is closed to your child’s year group.
