Dear Parents/Carers,
Beat The Street It is brilliant to see so many people using the Beat the Street scheme on their way to school This is being run by Pendle Council, to promote walking in the area. The box was stolen from outside school on Wednesday evening but a new one has been put up on Thursday evening. |
Half Term Football Club Please see the flyer at the bottom of this newsletter, with how you can book your child onto Soccer School taking place at Reedley over half term (21 October to 25th October). This takes place at Reedley but is run by Pro-Sport Coaching at a price of £12 per day or £50 for the week. |
Swimming Lessons All swimming lessons have now finished. Year 4 children will attend the local pool for some more swimming lessons starting from 7 October. All Year 4 children need to attend and must ensure that they have their swimming kit in school. We will confirm specific dates for the classes next week.
The number of children nationally who have drowned in the last year has doubled since the year before. Swimming is a vital life skill that could save your child’s life. |
MacMillan Coffee Morning On Friday 4th October we are raising money for the MacMillan Cancer Charity. We would welcome any donations of cakes or biscuits that we can sell. These can be brought into school on Thursday 3rd October or in the morning of Friday 4th October. Families are welcome to join us in school and your child can join you during the following slots. 9.00am – 9.20am Reception and Year 1 9.20am – 9.40am Year 2 and Year 3 9.40am – 10.00am Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 If you have children in different year groups, you will have to attend during the different sessions. Only children who have a parent/carer attending the coffee morning will be able to attend. If there are biscuits/cakes left at the end of the day, we will sell these after school.

Attendance Our attendance this week was 94.73%. Well done to the three classes that met the target this week.
Punctuality We had 8 hours and 11 minutes of schooling lost this week due to lateness. Lessons start promptly at 8.50am and children should be in their classroom for this time. |
Hair Children with long hair should have it tied back for school. Occasionally all schools have outbreaks of headlice. Keeping long hair tied up can minimise the chances of your child catching headlice. |
Road Safety Please remind all drivers to take extra care when driving on roads around school. A family were very close to being hit by a car on Reedfield this morning. We want to keep everyone safe so please drive slowly and safely.
The police have been carrying out checks around schools and will continue to do so. They are checking that any drivers parked on the yellow markings have a valid blue badge. There is a £2000 fine for these badges being misused.
They are also checking that appropriate car seats are in place. They prevented one family from putting the children in the car as they did not have car seats in place. Children must use a car seat until they are 12 years old or 135cm tall. |
