On Monday we joined the author and performer Gareth Jones. We were able to create, star in and solve mysteries based on his 'Solve your own mystery' books.
On Wednesday we joined the author Lola Shoneyin to hear her read the book Iyaji the Housegirl. This was from a series about children in Northern Nigeria and linked perfectly with our recent PSHE lessons and assembly on The Rights of a child. we also met the illustrator online who talked about how she brings the story to life with her pictures.

Morris Dancing
We were lucky to be visited by the Morris Dance Group who taught all the children in Year 3 about the history of Morris dancing and how to do it too. The children enjoyed their afternoon and are looking forward to enhancing their dancing skills in P.E.

All the children and staff were invited to wear red clothes on Friday to show thier support to the 'Show Racism The Red Card' campaign. Take a look at how amazing we look.
Talk Money week – Week beginning 7th November
We explored different methods of making payments including using cash, credit cards, online payments, paying with a phone or watch. We had lots of fun exploring real notes and identifying all of the security features on them.
We discussed how the images on our coins and notes will be changing soon so that they will have a portrait of King Charles III. Having looked at the notes, we decided to design new notes.

Maths Week England – Week beginning 14th November
As part of this we explored the work of Henry Ernest Dudeney.
Pentominoes are thought to have been invented by Solomon W. Golomb in 1953. Henry Ernest Dudeney, an English inventor, created the first pentomino problem which was publishes in 1907.
Pentomoinoes are shapes that use five square blocks, joined edge to edge, to form various combinations
In our maths lessons, we tried to find all 12 pentominoes. We then tried to complete pentomino puzzles, by fitting all the pentominoes into a grid. It was harder than we thought it would be!

Aboriginal Art
We studied Aboriginal art. We explored where it orinigated from and what the symbols mean. We looked in detail at the work of Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi. We then designed out own Aboriginal art and were able to 'tell our own story' to others.
Library Bus - 23rd February 2023
Reedley School were visited by the Library Bus, where some children from each class were able to choose a selection of books to take back to their classes for everyone to enjoy.
World Book Day - 2nd March 2023
Well done to our class for winning the award throughout school for TimesTable Rockstars.
Happy Mother's Day
After writing our own acrostic poems, we then made Mother's day cards to share our poems with our loved ones.

Eid celebration school dinner
The Eid Assembly
Year 3 did a fantastic job and hosting an Eid Assembly for the rest of the school as well as for the parents. We were all very proud of how confident the children spoke and sang.
The Kings Coronation celebrations
We had a non-uniform day where were wore red, white and blue. We learnt about the Royal Family and how everyone is related. We then explored what would happen during the weekend Coronation celebration. Year 3 part particular interest to the Sovereign's Orb. Have a look at our detailed art work.

Lesson 3: Exploring plants close up.
We looked looking at plants close up and using the ipads to take our own 'zoomed in' photographs of plants. We started to use some of these images to draw large images of plants.

Friendship day
We had an excellent day meeting new friends from Barrowford Primary School. We played a game of 'People Bingo' as an ice breaker to get to know each other then we worked in small groups to complete Venn diagrams, comparing both schools. Our schools had lots of similarities as well as differences.
We had fun playing paracute games.
Then we completed about you sheets about our new friends.
